Workshop Objective: (We are planning to present this workshop via Zoom, details shared upon registration) This workshop is highly interactive.

Participants will:- Discuss previous teaching experiences and career goals related to teaching.- Brainstorm and analyze knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to secure a position and thrive as a faculty member in a teaching-centered institution.- Create an action plan for their own professional development.Participants will also learn about a variety of professional development opportunities to help them meet their teaching career preparation goals. Seating is limited and registration is required for attendance.

Bio: Dr. Jennifer H. Herman is the Director for the Center of Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Herman's passion lies in helping adults learn: she works to develop—and help others develop—engaging, effective, and practical learning experiences that help adults meet their educational and professional goals. She is also currently an adjunct professor in the Health Professions Education doctoral program at Simmons College. Previously, Dr. Herman was the founding Director of the Center for the Advancement of Scholarship, Teaching, and Learning at Niagara University near Niagara Falls, NY; she also worked for the School of Education at American University in Washington, DC. Dr. Herman received her PhD in Higher Education from the University at Buffalo and her MA in International Training and Education from American University. Dr. Herman has also worked as an education writing consultant for over ten years, and has designed training programs and curricula for the U.S. Department of State and the New York State Small Business Development Center. Throughout her professional career, she has taught courses as an adjunct faculty member in writing, literature, and education, and has taught and written verbal, analytical reasoning, writing, and math content for Kaplan Test Prep, the University at Buffalo's Graduate School of Management, and Barron's Educational Series. Dr. Herman is also an active scholar; her research and publications focus on faculty development, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and online education. She regularly presents at both national and international conferences.
